ELEGOO has expanded from 3D printing into 3D scanning with the launch of the M1 Ultra, its first all-in-one smart scanner. The device went on sale on October 29, 2026, at a retail price of $1,699, with early-bird pricing of $1,599 available through November 12. ELEGOO positions the scanner for professional work in customization, reverse engineering, education, digital archiving and other creative projects.
The M1 Ultra is built around blue-laser scanning with accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per meter. ELEGOO describes the system as metrology-grade. To maintain consistent performance, the scanner uses an all-glass optical system, intelligent temperature compensation and high-precision camera calibration. Global-shutter cameras are intended to reduce motion blur and distortion during capture. The device also records 24-bit full-color texture mapping with image signal processing optimization, allowing users to capture an object’s geometry and appearance.
Five scanning modes address different objects and applications. A 34-line blue laser mode is designed for medium-to-large objects, while a seven-line blue laser mode targets fine details on small-to-medium parts. A single-line blue laser mode is intended for deep holes, narrow gaps and other hard-to-reach areas. An infrared structured-light mode covers face, body and object scanning, and a marker-free blue laser mode offers an alternative for surfaces where markers are impractical.
The scanner supports objects ranging from 5 x 5 x 5 mm³ to 4,000 x 4,000 x 4,000 mm³. It can also scan black and metallic surfaces without coating powder, which ELEGOO says provides greater flexibility across materials and environments. A 3-inch HD touchscreen allows operation on the device, while Wi-Fi 6 supports wireless scanning. The 4,800 mAh swappable battery provides up to 1.5 hours of wireless scanning, and the handheld body is designed for portability and ergonomic use.
ELEGOO SCAN software is intended to simplify the path from capture to a usable 3D model. Guided setup, tracking assistance and multi-scan alignment support the scanning process, while automated one-click processing handles mesh wrapping, mesh optimization and color mapping. The software exports data in STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC formats for compatible third-party design, modeling and manufacturing software.
Kevin Wang, co-founder and vice president of ELEGOO, said that 3D scanning opens new possibilities for capturing and working with physical objects. He said the M1 Ultra aims to combine precision, versatility and workflow efficiency in one integrated solution, making advanced 3D scanning more accessible across a wide range of applications. Wang added that the launch is an important step in expanding ELEGOO’s 3D creation ecosystem and connecting the physical and digital worlds.
The M1 Ultra extends a broader move by consumer 3D printing brands into adjacent workflow tools. Creality, which began as a desktop 3D printer manufacturer, introduced a product lineup at IFA 2026 that included the Pika 3D scanner, a 260 g portable device using seven-line blue laser and near-infrared scanning with accuracy to 0.03 mm and scan speeds up to 110 fps. Revopoint’s Trackit SR wireless scanner offers marker-free optical tracking metrology with single-frame accuracy of 0.02 mm and a Deep Hole Mode using a single blue laser line. 3DMakerpro’s Toucan all-in-one scanner is designed to let users scan, edit and fuse complete 3D models without a computer.
ELEGOO’s standard retail prices are $1,699, €1,699, £1,399, CAD 2,399 and ¥299,999. Early-bird prices through November 12 are $1,599, €1,599, £1,319, CAD 2,299 and ¥284,999. As consumer brands add scanning to their portfolios, capturing physical objects is becoming part of the same workflow as making them, and ELEGOO is now competing in both areas.
