Places for People has appointed groundworks contractors to a framework valued at £246m, dividing the work into 13 regional lots across England and Scotland.
Firms with the widest reach
Coinford Central and RJ McLeod each secured places on six of the 13 lots, the broadest spread among the appointed companies. M&J Evans Construction and Houlihan & Co each picked up four lots.
The winner list also includes MV Kelly, Erith, Tamdown, O'Halloran & O'Brien and Chasetown Civil Engineering, alongside a wider group of regional specialists named on individual lots.
Scope of the packages
Work under the framework ranges from site clearance, bulk earthworks and foundations through to drainage, utilities, roads, sewers and external works. Scottish packages carry extra scope, running from house foundations to completed in-situ concrete floors, plot drainage, retaining wall foundations and ducting for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Where the value sits
Greater London is the biggest regional package at around £38m. It is followed by the South West — South lot covering Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset at £30m, while East Anglia and the northern Home Counties account for a further £29m.
The coverage stretches from Lancashire, Manchester and Merseyside in the North West through Yorkshire, the West Midlands, the East Midlands and several South East and South West lots to Greater London, plus three Scottish areas: the Central Belt, a North 1 package restricted to the Aberdeen area and a North 2 package whose detailed area was not specified.
